Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison сonsidered one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock history. Morrison is known as much for his distinctive voice as for his quirky stage persona, self-destructive lifestyle and poetic work. Rolling Stone magazine included him in its list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

Jim Morrison and the Doors

Jim Morrison, full name James Douglas Morrison is american singer, poet, songwriter, frontman and vocalist for The Doors. He was born on 8 December 1943 in Melbourne, Florida, USA the son of the future Admiral George Morrison (1919-2008) and Clara Morrison (née Clark, 1919-2005). Jim also had a brother Andrew and a sister Ann. Jim had a mixture of Scottish, English and Irish blood.
From school, Morrison was interested in the works of Arthur Rimbaud, William Blake and Friedrich Nietzsche. Morrison’s IQ is known to be 149.

While at UCLA, Jim met Ray Manzarek and became friends with him. Together they formed The Doors. After a while they were joined by drummer John Densmore and John’s friend Robbie Krieger. Krieger was introduced on Densmore’s recommendation and was later included in the band. The Doors took the band’s name from the title of Aldous Huxley’s The Doors of Perception.

The band’s first single, “Break Through”, reached number 126 on the Billboard charts, but the relative failure was more than made up for by the follow-up, “Light My Fire”, which topped the charts. The Doors’ first album, released in early 1967, also reached number one on the Billboard charts and marked the beginning of “dorzomania”. One track on the album, The End, which was supposed to be a simple farewell song, gradually became more and more complicated and became a universal image.

Jim Morrison’s Death and the Mystery that Surrounds it

In 1970, Jim married a practising witch, Patricia Kenneely; the wedding was celebrated according to a Celtic witchcraft ritual.

From then on, Jim’s fate was a rapid downhill slide: drunkenness, arrests for lewd behaviour and fights with the police, transformation from an idol for girls into a fat, bearded slob. More and more material was written by Robbie Krieger, and less and less by Jim Morrison. The Doors’ last concerts were mostly a drunken Morrison arguing with the audience; it pissed off the band members.
In the spring of 1971 the rock star went to Paris with his girlfriend Pamela Courson to rest and work on a book of poetry.

According to the official version, Jim Morrison died around 5am on 3 July 1971 in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, Pamela found him in the bathroom of a rented flat at 17 rue Botreuil in hot water, no longer breathing. When the ambulance and police arrived, they found the remains of Morrison vomiting blood on the floor before he died, and there were signs of a nosebleed on his face. According to his old friend Alain Ronay, who came to Paris especially to meet Morrison, Jim did not look well on the eve of his death and complained of feeling unwell.
The actual cause of his death is unknown.

Conclusion

Morrison is a member of the so-called “27 Club”. According to Krieger and Densmore, when members of The Doors were discussing the deaths of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, Morrison joked, “You could be drinking with ‘number three'”.
